Watermelons

Did you know that August is National Watermelon Month?  We celebrated in grand style as we estimated, weighed, measured, and collected data on our watermelon.  And of course, we had a watermelon seed spitting contest.  Lots of fun.

About Me

My photo
Mrs. Apgar
Welcome! I'm so glad you're here. After retiring from teaching in California, I moved to Cedar City in 2005, and started all over again. Though I've been teaching school for a gazillion years, each new year seems to be my favorite. I can't imagine doing anything more exciting or rewarding.

Flat Stanley

Flat Stanley has begun his travels. Our goal is to have him visit every state before April 1. So far, we have postcards from Alaska, Hawaii, and California. We are looking forward to a grand celebration in the spring.

Mustang Market

The Mustang Market is ready to open its doors. Still, we are always looking for donations to motivate and reward the children for their exceptional efforts. Your contributions of gently used toys, miscellaneous knickknacks, and leftover Halloween candy would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all of your support.

Books! Books, Everywhere!

by Cheryl Apgar

Books, books everywhere.
Come read a good book.
We've got plenty to share.

We read in the room.
We read outside.
There are so many good books,
It's hard to decide.

We can read on a couch or in a chair.
We can read books most anywhere;
Upside down or on the rug,
In the car or while getting a hug.

We read while waiting for the bus to come.
Reading while swinging is particularly fun.
Reading with a friend or reading alone,
Reading in bed or on the phone...

No matter the time, no matter the weather,
We want to read forever and ever.
